I’m really tired today but just had to post this funny video.
The back story on this is that Craig is a HUGE Dr Who fan and had the 11th Doctor on his show. They had this great song and dance put together but right before air time, they were told they couldn’t preform it because they didn’t have the clearance to play the theme song. I knew it would get “leaked” onto the internet eventually and here’s the video! Enjoy!!!
Ok, I’m a geek. I love Star Trek especially Star Trek:The Next Generation. When I was young, the pull was Wesley Crusher but now Captain Picard is da bomb!
I love all the Star Treks but my heart is with TNG, much like Tom Baker is “my doctor”.
For a long while, the SciFi Channel, now known as SyFy (due to copyright and trademark law honestly) is going to be showing episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Tuesday nights with an all day thing on February 2nd! I am so happy that TNG is back in prime time once again.
Last week, I caught an episode of Leverage (TNT, Wends 9pm ET). When the first season came out, I watched about half an episode and wasn’t too impressed. The only reason I decided to watch the show again was knowing that Wil Wheaton was going to be a guest star in a few weeks and really didn’t want to miss it. (He’ll be playing a geek – what a shocker!)
I was first pleasantly surprised to see Johnathan Frakes’s name pop up as the director of the episode titled “Fairy Godparents Job” and then I saw “Jane” from the British comedy show “Coupling” (Gina Bellman playing the role of Sophie Deveraux ). It was nice to see Gina playing a smart(but flawed) character with a heart was nice but I kept expecting her to slip up and start acting like Jane.
According to the Leverage’s site, “While trying to recover embezzled cash from a Madoff-like funds manager, the team finds themselves acting as unlikely fairy godparents to the mark’s lovable loser stepson. ”
The episode had a nice twist and built up the drama at a good pace, while adding in bits of comedy to keep things moving and from getting too serious. It had a similar feel to how the “Ocean’s 11″ series of buddy/crime movies.
Johnathan Frakes did a great job directing, keeping it funny and sweet at times but not getting overly comical.
It’s rated TV-14 but the episode I saw, besides the stealing and revenge part of the story, was something I could see watching with my older (pre-teen) kids and not feel uncomfortable. I hope that the series is as “clean” as the episode I saw so I can watch it with them.
I will be watching tonight’s episode and look forward to catching up on previous over the next few weeks. TNT does offer online episodes to view and there are several episodes on demand through Verizon.
There were times that I was obsessed with Star Trek and when she guest starred on TNG, it was a highlight to me. She was funny and strong and sure of herself when she played Deanna Troi’s mom, Lwaxana Troi. She was the lady to party with or cry on the shoulder on.
When I read of her passing it was like loosing Gene (Roddenberry) all over again. Much of my teens and early 20′s focused around Star Trek, much to my teachers frustration.
I have confirmed that she will be in the May release of the new Star Trek movie as the familiar and comforting voice of the computer. If I am to see one movie this May (Star Trek vs. Wolverine), Star Trek is now winning.
My condolences go out to Eugene, her son and the rest of the Roddenberry/Barrett families for their loss. I will miss that fiery soul and hope she is off having fun with Gene and causing trouble wherever they may be.
Sci Fi Channel is finishing up the run of Battlestar Galatica and we have to wait until January 16th to get the beginning of the last season. To fill that void, they are offering 10 webisodes to view at SciFi.com.
The first two are out and they are just as good at the last few seasons of the show. Several OMG moments on both of them so far. They bring in some new characters but they star Grace Park (Sharron & ) and Alessandro Juliani (Felix Gaeta) with some of the other regulars showing up too.
The BSG webisodes are about 4 minutes long each but they are jam packed with action. Each episode comes out on Mondays and Wednesdays at noon. The TV series returns to the air with new episodes on January 16th at 10pm. I for one can not wait to see these “fracking” last episodes.
It seems like if you are a fan of Star Trek, you’re either a TOS (The Original Series) or a TNG (The Next Generation) fan. Sure there are fans of the other spin off shows but those are the main two.
I like all the Star Trek shows and movies but TNG is my personal favorite. I wanted to live on the Enterprise. I don’t know if it was the holodeck or the replicators or what, but life on the Enterprise was never boring and it would have been so cool to be there.
So in honor of my favorite Star Trek series and my favorite captain, I offer this amazing video. Enjoy!
