The Seattle Time have written an article on how to grow potatoes without using vast amounts of land.  They claim that at the end of the growing season, you can end up with about 100 lbs. of potatoes!  I don’t know about you but I love potatoes, all kinds.  This is so tempting to try out and the directions make me itch to seek out my power tools and run to Home Depot for wood and dirt.  Sure this year might mean some bigger costs, but as long as the wood doesn’t rot or get super icky, its reusable for many years to come.  They do say not to re-use the same dirt to grow potatoes in back to back years but that just gives me dirt for a raised bed near by.

I really hope this is as easy as it say it is because having 100 lbs of potatoes sounds like a long winter of potato fun in my house!

Kristen over at DomesticFluff.com has a nifty way to decorate eggs with polka dots and glitter.

The best thing is, she has come up with a more kid-safe/less sparkly method of doing this too!  I don’t know about you, but I would rather not have glitter in my egg salad.  I’ll keep the secret on how she does this but it is brilliant!

Now, if you are looking for the ultimate “bling” for your eggs, Lumpy Page Designs, has topped the charts.  I’ll just post the pic and let you read how she did this.  Granted , the egg is blown so this is NOT a project for a hard boiled egg.

How fabulous would that look as a centerpiece?  And the hardest part of the whole thing is probably waiting for it to dry!

I had everything on hand, marshmallows, heavy weight paper, stapler, double stick tape, clear plastic bags AND ink for my printer.  I also had on hand my paper cutter which made cutting straight lines a breeze.  I made 15 of the bunny tails and 3 of the  seeds because that’s all I needed.    The bunny tails template has 4 per page and the seeds have at least 12, probably more.   I was done both crafts (including printing time) in less than 30 minutes.  Granted if my kids had “helped” it would have taken longer but they were already tucked into their beds before I got started.

Here are some pics that I took.

My bags were a bit smaller than what Can’t Stop Making Things used so I trimmed down the paper just a bit.  My bags (2 oz. sized) held about half a cup of marshmallows perfectly.

If you are looking to occupy the kiddies for a bit before company arrives or when they are waiting for the big feast on Sunday, this is a GREAT way to occupy them!

First one up is “Bunny Tails“  My kiddies love marshmallows and this is a cute one.  If you are having many little folk over for Easter, this would be a cute one to put at their place settings.  Chances are they will not last though the meal but its still very cute.  Even the kids can help make these up.

Now, the next one is also cute and easy for the kiddies to also help make up.  Re-labeling a box of tick tac’s as Easter Egg Seeds would be great if there are some older kiddies attending or for the kids to make for the adults.  This would even make a cute little teacher’s gift.  If you felt really crafty and had some of those food safe markers, you could even decorate them a bit to make them a bit more colorful or mix in some other flavors.

A little tissue paper, scissors and a few seconds and you have yourself an adorable little favor with the best little gift in my eyes, candy!

Martha says to use a strip of acetate to make a cylinder but why not re-use a paper towel (or TP) roll?  Plus you can get more candy in it.  More candy is always a “Good Thing” in my book!
